Emma Swan (The Saviour) begins the series as a bondswoman that hunts criminals in Boston, Massachusetts. Her whole live is changed when her son, Henry whom she gave up for adoption while serving time in jail, shows up on her doorstep. Henry tells her about Storybrooke, a fantastic town in Maine where the inhabitants are fairy tale characters. However, because of a curse enacted by the evil queen, no one can remember their true identities. The people are forced to live in an alternate universe where no one is fulfilling their destinies or getting their “happy ending”! Reluctantly Emma accompanies Henry back to Storybrooke, upon arrival she has a feeling like something is not quite right with the town. She decides to stay long enough to help Henry figure out what is going on.

In the show Emma is the child born from the “True Love” of her parents, Snow White and Prince Charming. When she is born her parents, who are aware of a Prophesy that says Emma is the saviour, send her away via a magic portal in a wardrobe so she can come back on her 28th birthday and save the people of the Enchanted Forest. This story sounds strikingly similar to the second coming of Jesus that the Bible Prophesizes.

Other Biblical themes show up in the TV series as well. For example the “Curse” is reminiscent of Adam and Eve being forced from Eden and the Evil Queen is the snake that brings forth their exile.Whereas Rumpelstiltskin is the physical embodiment of sin.
